What do Starbuck’s and blogging have in common?

Probably  nothing.  I just thought that somehow, by sitting in Starbucks with my laptop and my coffee, (very hip thing to do) the words for my first post would magically pop into my head.  Instead I found myself looking at other popular blogs to see how they worded their first posts.  Ya know–just  for some ideas.  I don’t know why I fear the blank page.  Part of it is going back and reading your own words later.  Once they’ve posted, they always sound so corny to me.  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve started paper journals/diaries only to go back months later and rip out all the pages.  Soooo….. an hour hours later I’ve decided to just jump in.  Whatever happens, happens.  Or doesn’t.

My name is Tracy.  I started this blog to chronicle everyday life.  A place to journal the seemingly normal, day-to-day happenings of life for myself, my family, and anyone else that happens across it and cares to read it, and to share with others what we are learning every day.  I won’t define those categories in this post as they will just come up naturally as we go along. Don’t worry, I won’t be cooking my way through Julia Childs cookbook—can’t afford all that butter and there’s no way I’m cooking a live lobster. Oh yeah, and somebody has already done that. But I MIGHT, just MAYBE  post occasional goals for myself.  I hope you’ll join me.

I did learn one thing today.  It feels good to stop waiting for the moment (because I guarantee it will never happen) when you feel like everything is perfect, the stars and planets are all aligned perfectly, kids are busy with other things, the house is quiet and empty and now you can do that thing (a blog post or whatever it may be) that you’ve been waiting for the perfect time to do.  Just do it!  Blog post done? Check.

Now I need to race to pick my daughter up from ballet and then race home to fix dinner. And somewhere in there the car was supposed to get vacuumed and washed.  Maybe I’ll wait until tomorrow when the stars are more perfectly aligned.
