Sunday ramble…….what we did this week.

image

Started to prepare for our 10th grade homeschool year which starts next Monday. Haven’t gotten very far. Guess I’ll be working on that some more this week.

Learned how to poach eggs. I know, I’m 40-something and never poached an egg. What’s up with that?
image

Had the opportunity to make lots of simple meals, using simple ingredients and garden abundance. Lord willing, I’ll be sharing some of those recipes soon.

Went for a drive in my husbands new Nissan Leaf. It is actually reducing our monthly car/gas expenditure by roughly $400 a month.

Caught some Sunday nappers. Man and beast. By the way, the beast was snoring rather loudly.

The best part this week was the blessings that poured in from God through our church family in the way of groceries and prayer for a job for my husband. Our freezer and fridge are stuffed! God answered those prayers, and several days later He blessed my husband with a new job. The best part wasn’t the groceries, and it wasn’t the new job. It was knowing and seeing that God is the provider. That He takes care of His children. God is over the top!

I hope you had a great week!

Took kids the kids to get their driver’s permits.  Yikes!

Tore up the ugly, dirty carpet in foyer in preparation for selling our home soon.

image

Watched spring burst forth.

Created a Honey Ricotta Fig scone recipe. Yum!

image

Tried a new method for hard cooked eggs. Hmm….

image

Made a”Shabby Chic/Vintage” looking cake.

And a deep dish, stuffed crust, ham and pineapple, skillet pizza.  I found the recipe at A Beautiful Mess.

And with the help of my brother, scheduled flight to New York for my oldest daughter and I. She will be attending a summer intensive at American Ballet Theater. Exciting!

Next week, Lord willing……
Meetings for work.
Try making molasses scones.
Pay bills.
Make ham and scalloped potatoes.
Share a few recipes and other things here.
Shop for palm branches for Palm Sunday and Passover weekend.

What did you get to do this past week? What do you hope to do this coming week?

I hope you have a blessed week!

Sunday ramble…what we did this week.

Here’s what we did this week:

image

Drug out the bread machine and made soft pretzels with my girls, Molly and Emily. (see previous post)

image

Dug out my deeper-fryer and learned how to use it to fry foods. Previously, many moons ago, it was used for candle making. (Don’t worry, I cleaned it thoroughly.)

image

Started the repair on our leaky wall.  Well, not me personally. My father-in-law and a friend from church. I can’t believe how much cold air is coming in through this exposed brick!  I think our heat is kicking on every 5 minutes.

image

My sweet Emily made Thumbprint cookies for us.  I can’t believe how she has taken to baking considering up to this point she only new how to make toast and grilled cheese. She makes great Lemon bars too!

image

God blessed us with a snow day on Saturday.  Big, fluffy flakes came down hard and fast for awhile. Reminded me of our Michigan winters. Of course we had less than an inch of accumulation, but we enjoyed every minute of it.

We enjoyed some candles on our lovely snow day.

Saturday afternoon I got to help Molly package up her homemade scones to sell at her Jazz and Hip-hop showcase that evening.  Thoroughly enjoyed the show but forgot to take pictures.

image

This morning I made pickled onions. I’ll share more on that later. These are awesome!  I think I could eat them at every meal.

image

This afternoon, my best friend (husband), hung out in the kitchen with me and we made salsa. I let him chop the jalapeno peppers.

image

Dave rustled up some fried ham and apples with cinnamon.

Then Dave and I played some Farkle while sitting in bed and watching T.V.

Our Sundays are usually filled with ballet lessons, grocery shopping, errand running, sometimes coffee with a sweet friend from church, and gathering up children from their friends houses. So today was rather quiet.

What did you get to do this week?
